ROSTER IQ

Great names. Better fit.

A practical guide to spacing, creators, defensive anchors and roster chemistry.

Chemistry comes from roles

RosterArcade’s chemistry is an original game metric. It starts with a base value and rewards complementary role coverage: shooting, defensive specialists, passing and a strong frontcourt on the glass. It is not a claim that two real players would or would not get along. The roster panel names the roles that your current lineup covers.

Make room on the floor

Spacing uses the four best shooting ratings in your starting five. This keeps a non-shooting center from sinking an otherwise well-spaced team, while still making extra shooters valuable. Chemistry rewards up to all five qualifying shooters. A lineup without a qualifying shooter receives a chemistry penalty.

Someone has to create

Playmaking uses the two best passing ratings. Chemistry gets a creator bonus for up to two players with passing at least 86. A lineup with none receives a penalty. A famous scorer with limited passing may score highly as an individual but leave the team short on reliable creation.

Defense is a team decision

The defense metric averages the starting five’s defensive ratings, then applies bench and tactical effects. Chemistry rewards up to three specialists with defense at least 87. Frontcourt rebounding also adds a chemistry bonus when the PF and C average at least 88 on the glass. Replacing a defensive anchor with another scorer changes more than the displayed overall.

The coach can unlock the group

In Save the Season, the coach changes both team metrics and the chemistry fit bonus. Morale, fatigue and an injury also affect the final simulated strength. In Trade Tree, chemistry still matters even without a coach decision. Read the whole profile before judging whether an offer made your team better.
